Het verhaal van Namusoke Jesca
Wij hebben Jesca in 2019 overgenomen van uit een andere sponsorgroep. zij zat toen op Nakyenyi Secondary School in de derde klas. Een vrolijke dame die heel goed wist wat ze wilde: juf worden!
Ze slaagde met goede cijfers op Secondary School en samen met haar sponsor ging ze inderdaad verder leren voor juf.

We took Jesca on from another sponsorship group in 2019. At the time, she was in the third grade at Nakyenyi Secondary School. A cheerful young lady who knew exactly what she wanted: to become a teacher!
She graduated from Secondary School with good grades, and together with her sponsor, she indeed continued her studies to become a teacher.
In Uganda gaat dat leren en stage lopen anders dan in Nederland. Tijdens de schoolterms, liep Jesca stage op haar eigen Primary School Lwerudeso in Lwengo. Zodra de kinderen naar huis gingen voor vakantie, ging Jesca naar school om de theorie te leren.

In Uganda, learning and doing internships work differently than in the Netherlands. During school terms, Jesca did an internship at her own Primary School, Lwerudeso, in Lwengo. As soon as the children went home for the holidays, Jesca went to school to learn the theory.
En het gaat heel erg goed met Jesca. Ze is een vrolijke juf die de kleine kinderen perfect aan kan. En in 2023 slaagt ze voor haar diploma en komt ze in vaste dienst van Lwerudeso Organisation.

And Jesca is doing very well. She is a cheerful teacher who handles the little children perfectly. And in 2023, she graduates and joins Lwerudeso Organisation as a permanent employee.
Haar sponsor vindt het leuk om haar een cadeau te geven voor het behalen van haar examen en ook als einde van de sponsoring. Ze moet iets bedenken wat echt voor haar zelf is. Dat is best moeilijk, want het is een fors bedrag!
Wat ze heel erg graag zou willen, is een klein winkeltje waar ze naast haar baan als juf, schoolspullen kan verkopen. Haar sponsor gaat hiermee akkoord en in januari 2024 krijgt Jesca krijgt haar winkeltje!

Her sponsor likes to give her a gift for passing her exams and also at the end of the sponsorship. She has to come up with something that is truly for herself. That is quite difficult, because it is a substantial amount!
What she would really love is a small shop where she can sell school supplies alongside her job as a teacher. Her sponsor agrees to this, and in January 2024, Jesca gets her little shop!
In april 2024 zoeken wij haar op in haar winkeltje. Ze is zo trots als een pauw en natuurlijk kopen we een paar dingen voor een buurmeisje bij ons Masaka-huis. Als wij op werkreis naar Lwengo gaan, nemen we behalve alle brieven van de sponsors ook een klein cadeautje voor de kinderen mee; een klein puzzeltje, een tekenblokje, een doosje kleurpotloodjes, een klein spelletje, zoiets.
Toen we daar in het winkeltje van Jesca stonden, kwam ik op het idee om Jesca dit in het vervolg te laten doen. Voor haar een leuke bron van inkomsten en voor ons ruimte in de koffer voor andere hulpgoederen.
We zijn met haar aan de slag gegaan en in oktober zal ze de eerste spulletjes gaan leveren.
Een geweldig verhaal van een meisje dat totaal geen kansen had doordat vader is overleden, moeder amper geld had om de monden te voeden en daar staat ze nu: voor de klas of in haar eigen winkel! We zijn enorm trots op haar!

In April 2024, we visited her in her little shop. She was as proud as a peacock, and naturally, we bought a few things for a neighbor girl at our Masaka house. When we went on a work trip to Lwengo, in addition to all the letters from the sponsors, we also took a small gift for the children; a small puzzle, a sketchbook, a box of colored pencils, a small game, something like that.
When we were standing there in Jesca's little shop, I got the idea to let Jesca handle this from now on. It would be a nice source of income for her and space in our suitcase for other relief supplies.
We got to work with her, and in October, she will deliver the first items.
It is an amazing story of a girl who had absolutely no opportunities because her father passed away and her mother barely had enough money to feed them, and there she stands now: in front of a class or in her own shop! We are incredibly proud of her!
Maar het verhaal houdt hier niet op want wat blijkt: Jesca vindt Douglas, onze partner in Uganda, wel heel erg leuk en Douglas vindt Jesca wel heel erg leuk! Ik heb wat betreft het kinderwerk heel veel contact met Douglas en ook met Jesca heb ik twee keer per jaar intensief contact als we de cadeautjes voor de kinderen bespreken. Hoe leuk is dit!

But the story doesn't end here, because it turns out: Jesca really likes Douglas, our partner in Uganda, and Douglas really likes Jesca! I have a lot of contact with Douglas regarding the children's work, and I also have intensive contact with Jesca twice a year when we discuss the gifts for the children. How nice is this!
